Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Jarrow, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra charges for those under 25. A valid full driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Additionally, valid payment information and a security deposit must be provided, as well as any other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations for Jarrow car hire can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Dartford office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was when collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and applicable charges will be applied. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will be incurred for insufficient fuel. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please contact us without delay to avoid additional charges. You will also be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during your rental period, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance. You will find comprehensive coverage information and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help minimize your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you have additional insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is forbidden. Usage must align with the vehicle's intended purpose, and it is important to adhere to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside of the agreed geographical area requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to immediate rental cancellation and extra fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Jarrow Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our liability for any claims is limited to the total amount you paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately after they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
